The author of this work was a lieutenant of the 12th Infantry Regiment named H.A. West, who remained stationed in Gibraltar for many years at the beginning of the nineteenth century and made splendid views of the impenetrable Fortress and its various defenses. His drawings done on the spot were later reworked by Thomas Mann Baynes and engraved in lithography by Charles Hullmandel.
2 parts in oblong folio (mm 305x410). Papers [4] (1 frontispiece, 1 index of the tables of the first part, 1 index of the tables of the second part, 1 white paper), with 12 lithographic tables engraved by Hullmandel and designed by Baynes from original sketches of West on India paper and mounted on strong paper.
