First Edition. Large Octavo. First printing. 352 pages, index, with thirty-two reproductions in color from original paintings by Thomas Moran, ad Henry H. Ragg along with twenty-four half-tones from photographs, also maps of the National Parks covered by this book.
After showing his painting of the Inner Gorge, he details Moran's visit to the Grand Canyon (p. 166ff) which is stated how important it is to America. He then follows with Moran's painting: "Early Morning" and in the chapter on Zion Canyon, he has the paintings "Bright Angel Trail" and "Slide Canyon from the North Rim".
While the book is one of the best introducing the American public to the wonders of the great national parks of the West, it has insights from Moran besides his paintings that are fascinating reading. Folding map present in the rear of book.
