Allen Young served on the Fox under Francis McClintock, traveling to Beechey Island where Franklin relics were found.

Over a decade later, Young commanded the Pandora on a second search mission. Despite heavy ice, the voyage was also able to provide support to the Nares expedition, 1875-76.
