An extensive narrative of explorations by Charles Barrington Brown, one of the surveyors appointed by the British crown. He reports on his travels and daily activities while conducting surveys of British Guiana for the British Government. Brown was the first European traveller to give an account of Kaieteur Falls.

Guiana at the time was still considered a terra incognita and this work provides a fascinating glimpse into that part of the world at that time from the perspective of a geologist.
