The scarce second edition, expanded to include Weddell's "Observations" and the account of Brisbane's voyage to Tierra del Fuego (with two maps and the two panorama plates of coastal views). Both the Weddell Sea (which he discovered) and Weddell seals are named for him.
Octavo (211 x 123mm.) 17 plates and maps, comprising: a handcolored aquatint frontispiece, 6 other aquatint plates by Clark after Weddell including 2 folding panoramic coastal profiles printed in blue; 10 engraved maps and charts of which 7 are folding. Modern half calf over marbled boards, red morocco spine label (erasure to frontispiece and title; folding plates and maps with some closed tears at folds/stubs and some offsetting; spotting to first map).
