The journey in 1817 of two British Army officers overland. The author served 35 years in India prior to his travels here recorded. The trip entailed a sea voyage to Muscat, onward through Persia where he was received by the King; thence to Georgia and Russia, west to Warsaw and ending in Prussia. Johnson presents detailed observations of local life and customs, and a detailed account of his traveling expenses from Bombay to London.
